Hi Racers.

"Click here" to watch the piece that KSTP T.V. did on our the IMCA Old Timers display at the Dakota County Fair.

We ALL should be very proud of the display, and of the coverage that we got from KSTP.

If possible we should send KSTP an email note thanking them for the coverage of our efforts preserving our Auto Racing History and Heritage here in Minnesota.

If it wasn't for the IMCA Old Timers, getting involved with Dakota City, at the Dakota County Fair, all of the States Racing History would have been lost after the closure and our 31 year Display at the State Fair Grounds.

As a club, we should ALL be very PROUD!!

Stay safe.

Regards, Mike Stein Secretary IMCA Old Timers.

MVVRCA 2018

MVVRCA 21st year is a critical turning point year for our club. We have 6 races scheduled plus our BIG Futurity Race Aug 3rd and 4th. Our 2017 car counts were quite low. Sadly, if we have the same type of turn out in 2018, the promotors will not be interested in us for 2019. To try to improve our car count, the board dropped the yearly dues from $30 to $20 & if you show your membership card from another vintage club your MVVRCA dues will only be $10.

The race team that attends the most MVVRCA races will receive $200, one 2019 membership, hoody, t shirt and anything else we can think of. In the event of a tie we will draw the winner. YOUR board is trying very hard to make improvements and make this fun. We need everyone to try to attend as many races as possible.

Eldon, Iowa, 1/2 mile Sat June 9th pay pit pass Tow money.

Quincy, ILLIONIS 1/4 mile SUNDAY July 22nd Pay pit pass.

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, IOWA 1/2 mile MVVRCA HAWKEYE FUTURITY Aug 3rd combined show track pit pass & Aug 4th club will rent track club pit pass.

Burlington 34 Raceway Fast 3/8 mile Fri Sept 28th Pay Pit pass $200 pay out to the Team that attended the most MVVRCA races in 2018. The Futurity was moved to Aug because of too many vintage club events in SEPT 2017 and the same in 2018 hurting our car count. It was moved to Columbus Junction from Osky because of a cost issue. Osky is a wonderful track and fits our needs well, but a 2-day event was beyond our budget. Aug 3rd will be a normal Friday show with their classes. It is open to all our classes, there will be a cost of a pit pass. Aug 4th we will rent the track and have our normal Futurity event Open to all classes, everyone will get a hot lap session, a heat race and a Feature. The coupes will have a 40 lap Cannon Ball Run open to six cylinders and flat heads( Midwest Jalopy Club Rules ) The super mods will have the MVVRCA Super Mod State Championship 40 lapper for overhead value engines.

Dennis Rose-319 676 1222 Chris Duncan & Carla 641 660 2373

We are open to any ideas—and want to solve any problems before they become big problems. Call with any questions and always call to check weather before you head to race track--- We will make calls and post on Face book cancellations.

Your board is trying very hard to make this a great year. Jump on board and have fun.

Click here to check out new items on our For Sale page:

There are a number of cars here that we would really like to keep in the club. If you do not have a car at the present time a good way to get into vintage racing.

Steve Yaggy's Recers Reunion

I would like to thank all of the members who went to the Racing Reunion at Steve Yaggy’s in Rochester on Saturday March 11th. The food was great and a lot of cool pictures and people to talk to, all had a good time. Hope to be back next year.

Thank you, Mark Langer President

I also had a great time at Steve’s reunion. Dave Noble and Clyde Hindrichs’s old coupes were on display. Clyde built the ‘37 Buick that got my family into racing in the late ’50.

We have another chance to do some bench racing as Fairmont Speedway Archives presents “A Day of Racing Fun” on March 25th.

2017 Annual Meeting & Membership Drive

We had 37 members attend our Annual Meeting on January 15th. I would like to thank all of the members whocame tothe meeting and the eightnew members who joined the club that day. It is nice to see the club grow.

We now have a confirmed dates fora Cedar Lake event July 22andJackson Motorplex labor day weekend,Sept. 1st & 2nd, 2017. Hope we can get asmany cars as possible. This gives you plenty of time to drag your car out and get it prepped. If you need help call or drop us a note and we will find help. Note camping is available at the track.P.S. They have plenty of push trucks, no waiting.

_______________________

Where have all of the old race cars gone? If you have one and need help with it, let us know. We have people who are willing to help. Drop us an e-mail, post card, letter, or a phone call. We have some younger members who are interested in vintage cars but need a little direction and are willing to learn. Some of the Raceway Park drivers are willing to drive if youno longer drive but would still like to see your car on the track. We also have people looking to buy old racecars. So you can still have fun with the club.

_______________________

I would like to thank all of the members who helped out at the Cub Foods Brat stand. Ron Olson spent four days helping out his fellow club members along with Skip, Mark, and all of the other volunteers who took time out of their weekend to help their club. Without this support we would not have a club.Bill Jr. AKA Cookie did a fine job on the grill (Cub wants him full time as a Grill Master) and all had a good time.

Thanks again: Mark Langer

Written by Jermey Wolf, long time racer at Raceway Park

I have accomplished a lot in racing through the years but the people you meet and friends you gain are trully what i appreciate the most. Wins, rookie of the year honors, a championship. But one of my most honored accomplishments was making it on Marge Elftmanns bread list. I heard of this but didn't know exactly what it was. I truly felt like i belonged at racewaypark and to racewaypark after i made this list. Marge was such a wonderful lady that didn't mind telling you the way it was, Honestly we all needed that. And i think she even taught me to party like a rockstar too. I will cherish the time we had and want to thank her family for letting us share an amazing person.

NEED HELP TO FIND

1973/1974 Opel Manta – Used to be a road race car then sold to a guy who raced it at raceway park in the late 70’ to early 80’s When it was sold it was a carbureted four cylinder with full roll cage and fiberglass hood. We don’t know a ton about the car but would like to find it due to it’s sentimental value to our family. Our father and family had many great memories revolving around this vehicle and would appreciate any information on it’s location. Even if it is the crusher. I can be reached at the following phone number and email address.

A MESSAGE FROM MARK LANGER

IMCA OLD TIMERS VICE PRESIDENT

PLEASE CLICK ONDOCUMENT LINK BELOW

Meeting Minutes – 1/17/15

In Attendance: Ken Hutchens, Paul Dophy, Rod Schuette, Vince Haywood, Chris Brooks (Tundra), Drew Kreibich (Tundra), Jim Olsen, Ken Lewis, Charlie Schwoch, Royce Rossier, Rick Rossier, Rex Rossier

SPECIAL NOTE: There is $19.00 left from passing the hat to cover the $55.00 meeting room fee

Made introductions and found out we have approximately 10 commitments for the May 9th race at Kaukauna. This included Darrell Paasch and Jerry Schneider who were absent from the meeting.

  • May 9th will be our first race with Tundra and is the only race scheduled so far. We will need to have at least (12) cars to move forward with Tundra.
  • Did a complete update on V.R.I. Series with Matt Rymer taking over for Art. Most of their shows are on dirt and it looks like as of now, there will be only two events that we might be able to compete with them. Possibly June 12th at Grundy, and August 1st at the Dells. But, we are scheduled the same day with Tundra Series at Wausau if things move forward.
  • Major discussion with us and Tundra joining together
    • Currently (4) free pit passes
    • No payout at this time, but if we prove ourselves, there are possibilities in the future
    • We need to provide cars and (1) go-to-person to help with communications
    • We get to be part of a series/group/etc.
    • We get more recognition
    • If we want, we could be part of their banquet
    • There was talk about us coming up with a small membership fee for awards at the banquet
    • Tundra wants us to be more of a part of their show by displaying our cars to the fans, hero cards, etc. Bring back the history with our cars.
    • Tundra wants us at all of their events, but we need (12) cars minimum to move relations forward.
  • IMCA:
    • Currently we have no leader or point person
    • IMCA will not pay for Tech Person at this time
    • IMCA will not support trophies for each event
    • Discussion on what our yearly membership is doing for the guys racing
    • Paul Dophy will be going to the IMCA board meeting on 1/18/15 and will come back with more info on IMCA
    • Discussed getting sponsors for each event to help us with tow money. The following is a list of who will be in charge for each event to take lead on getting sponsors:
      • May 9th Kaukauna -- Jerry Schneider
      • June 20th Jefferson -- Rod Schuette (he is pretty sure he has a person lined up)
      • July 3rd LaCrosse -- Ken Hutchins
      • July 18th Dells -- Vince Haywood
      • August 1st Wausau -- ??
      • September 7th Golden Sands – Rex Rossier & Royce Rossier
    • It was also discussed that in order to get any sponsor tow money; we would have to pre-register for each event. This is a good idea to help further control car count.
  • Went around the room in open format to discuss any issues
    • It was felt that everyone needs to do a better job in stepping up so the series doesn’t fold
    • Some folks felt that the ARCA/NASCAR cars are still not a good fit for our series. Currently we only have (1) of these cars that is ready to compete May 9th.
    • It is important for the club to get a go-to-person set up no matter what series we run.
    • More discussion needs to happen on the whole IMCA deal. Currently Tundra is offering us to become more of an identity. Some feel that Wisconsin should be a separate club.
    • Most members in attendance thought it was a very good thing for us to align with Tundra
    • Discussed left side / right side weight rule for all cars. 1380.00 right side rule minimum would probably be used if agreed upon.

NEXT MEETING TENTATIVELY SET UP FOR MARCH 14, 2015.

Any questions, contact Rex Rossier 715-570-0277

Here are 3 letters from club President Paul Dolphy that got lost in my email

Letter to IMCA Oldtimers Member

It's almost June and our first three events are behind us. The Weather for our Swap Meet was less than ideal, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been, thanks to all who attended and helped. Our first exhibition race of the season at Elko Speedway on Saturday found the weather to be almost perfect for a night at the races. My wife and I hada great time. Thank You to all the members who came out to race, take pictures, tech cars and do line ups and supportour club. Congrats to Bob Heine and Greg Gennertz for a super close finish, what a good show.As for the pit pass problems, they have the only game in town, so if you chose to not come out because of that, than don't complain, you chose to let your car collect dust.

Our second exhibition race of this year was at Golden Sands Speedway for the "Dick Trickle Memorial Fund Race" on Monday. The day started out a little damp, but turned out perfect in Plover. I've heard what a nice facility Darrel has out there and I couldn't agree more. The officials gave us practice, hot laps, time trials, heat race and feature. For me it was a lot of laps with a 45 year old tight race car, but I still had fun and drove it backon the trailer and that makes it a good night of racing. Congratulations to Rex "The Stockton Rocket"Rossier ,for a close race with his brother Royce. Bob Heine and Rodney Schuette had a good battle and along came me.

I am looking forward to Milwaukee Mile and Slinger next on the Schedule, Hoping to see a lot better turn out at these events.

Don't forget our Big Event on July 19that Cedar Lake Speedway, picnic starts at noon. I am looking forward to seeing you all there and hearing some more racers stories, sure heard a lot this past weekend.

Paul Dolphy

Thanks go out to Steve and all the folks at ARCAFEST. The weather was great, we had all the practice times we needed and a 20 lap feature on Saturday afternoon. We had a total of 13 Vintage cars show up, unfortunately 2 of the cars had terminal engine failures on Friday.

2014 ARCAFEST MILWAULEE MILE

By Jim Heiland

The ARCA Midwest Tour, ARCAFEST at the Milwaukee Mile was held June 6-7-8, 2014.

Our thanks to Steve Einhaus and Time Olson for having the IMCA Vintage Touring Series be part of their event.

The weekend saw 5 different series of cars and trucks compete.

ARCA Midwest Series, Jegs Stock Car Series, Mid-Am Stock Cars, Mid-Am Truck Series and IMCA Vintage. Plus on Saturday there was a Car Show on the infield, Monster Truck Show and a Moto cross event on Saturday.

The weather was just about perfect. It was good to meet up with old and new friends and spend time with them.

IMCA Vintage had 15 paid entries, they were,

#49, Dick Wagner 58 Pontiac Pace Car (origionally raced at the mile in 58 and 58)

#2, Gary Mitidiero Homer Glen IL, 71 Camero. #02 Woody Pool, Tinley Park Il 70 Ford Torino.

#4 Royce Rossier Plover WI, 70 Chev Nova, #7 Chuck King #8 Tom Collins, Lake Mills WI, 81 Camero. #12 Butch Mierendorf Waterloo WI, 99 Pontiac Grand Prix. #13 Ken Hutchens Black River Falls WI 66 Chev Chevelle. #15 David Logan Kouts IN. 69 Chev Nova.

#16 Tim Moore, Valpappaiso IN. 69 Chev Nova. #21 Rex Rossier, Plover WI> 76 Camero.

#33 David Gawronski, Reedburg WI 88 Chev Monti Carlo. #67 Michael Moore, Valpspsiso IN. 74 Chev Nova. #88 Jim Heiland Arlington, MN 76 Chev Laguna. #99 Paul Dolphy, Mounds View MN 69 Ford Torino.

Friday was a pretty busy day with 3 practice sessions. I think we all had enough track time.

Tim Moore and Michael Moore experienced serious mechanical problems on Friday and were unable to race Saturday.

Friday night all classes attended the BUD Pole Party. Lots of Bud Lites. Each series drew for the starting spot for qualifying on Saturday.

Since we did not do qualifying, Royce Rossier and business partner Dan at Midway Machine in Plover WI put up $100 prize money. A number between 2 and 7 was drawn. Number 6 was picked, so the rule was who ever finished in 6th place won the $100.

The race on Saturday was fun. The group stayed together for a while. Caution came out with 17 to go when Butch Mierendorf’s engine let go oiling up turns 1 and 2. After several laps to clean the track, the race was on. It was a 5 car race for awhile then it was a dog fight between Mitidiero, Pool, and Rex Rossier, with Mitidiero winning, Pool 2nd and Rossier 3rd.

After the race we all went to Victory Lane for pictures. Kelly Lynne Peterson looked great and did a wonder job as our trophy presenter.

Also want to thank Scott (Moldy) Moldenhaur for doing tech inspections, Race Directors Brian Dolphy, Chris Heiland, Val Dolphy for help on line ups. Kelly Lynne, trophy girl, Dick Wagner for the pace car, Mid Am Tech person Dan Blood for the use and help on the scales and weigh in. By the way, all cars did pass the 3000 lb weight rule, And after the race the top three cars were weighed Oh yes one more thing…..I finished 6th and got the $100, thanks Royce and Dan

Sunday June 8th, 2014 Slinger WI

by Paul Dolphy

Great weather followed us to Slinger Super Speedway, we had 11 vintage cars show up for a wild night of racing. Thanks to Todd and all the folks at the Slinger Super Speedway for allowing us to be a part of their show and Royce and Rex Rossier for settingit upfor us. Good Job.

Heat Race was a pretty quick 8 laps and won easily by Pat Echlin.

15 Lap Feature had some bumping and banging that was uncalled for and a close call with the #1 car not going to the Infield with a flat tire, bringing out a caution. The double filerestart helped keep things a little closer to the end, with Rex and Jerry working hard to get around Echlin in the 56 car. everyone drove or rolled their cars back on the trailer at the end of the night so I would call that a good night of racing.

MEMORIAL DAY 2014 AT GOLDEN SANDS

WISCONSIN RAPIDS WI

Early morning rain didn't slow the activities at Golden Sands. The car count was really good for the Super Lates and Tundra Cars.

Vintage cars numbered five. Winning the long distance award was club president Paul Dolphy #99 coming from Mounds View MN.

Rex Rossier got his #21 car out for the first time.

Heat was won by #4 Royce Rossier and the feature by Rex Rossier #21. Both races were fun to watch.

Just a side note. After the races, I counted at one time over 50 people hanging around the vintage cars.

Thanks to Darrell and Shela and the staff at Golden Sands for their hospitality.

A Letter To The IMCA Old Timers Members

From Our NewPresident Paul Dolphy

January 22, 2014

When I started composing this letter we had a few exciting events coming up, but they've passed by now so I'll have to refer to them in the past tense. 2014 started out with shoveling snow, cold weather and a trip out to Janesville, Wisconsin to participate in the Racers Expo. The IMCA Oldtimers had a booth and a meeting with some of our Vintage Touring Seriesmembers from out that way. It was good to see some of those members and welcome some new ones.

This past Sunday, January 19th, we had a Bench Racing/Scrapbook/Memorabilia Meeting with over 20 members showing and sharing their memories. It was hard for me to get to everybody's table but I sure tried and looked at everything I could. During the 3 plus hours everymember I looked at wasso proud of their collection and the stories that went with them, which is the reason I got involved with this club to begin with.I'm positive WE have to do this again this year because it was so much fun. My wife and I talked about it for several hours after we got home.

Now on to the rest of the year, we are still planning our Racers Swap Meet in April, Milwaukee Mile event is on a June weekend this year, and Cedar Lake Speedway in July, more to come. I'm really looking forward seeing as many of our members out at the track as possible this year.

Thank You to all the Board Members, Presidents, Vice Presidents, Secretary's, Treasurers, Race Directors and Members who were here before me, I hope I cankeep up what you have startedand keep the stories, friendships and camaraderie alive

Sincerely

PaulDolphy

OCTOBERFEST OCTOBER 6

LACROSSE WI

by Ken Hutchens

Oktoberfest vintage racing brought 15 cars to the Lacrosse Fairgrounds Speedway on Oct.6.
First heat was won by Ken Lewis of Black River Falls in his '70 Mustang Hooters tribute car to Alan Kulwicki. Second heat was won by Ken Hutchens of Black River Falls....do we see a pattern here? Kenny was driving his '88 Monte Carlo SKoal Bandit tribute car to Harry Gant. The feature was a great race, won by Mike Carlson in an older ARCA Dodge car, looked like something Ray Evernham maybe built. No major crashes and only a couple spins brought out the yellow once and everyone had a great time. IMCA trophy girl Tracey Smith made the trip to help with victory lane procedures.

Raceway Park's last race
was Sept 1. As sort of a last minute deal the IMCA Old Timers had 10 vintage race cars on display behind the grandstand. Ron Olson, #47, 8 time track champion, carried the flag around the track for the last time with Marge Elftmann riding shotgun . He was followed by the vintage cars. Ron also carried the flag on the first race 57 years ago. Ron drove Skip Pollacks vintage 55 Ford Stock car. The races were good, the stands were packed, standing room only. Concession stands ran out of food. felt bad for Jeremy Wolf, on the last lap of the NASCAR Hobby feature, he got upside down on the back stretch and really made a mess out of his #32 car. After all the races were over, many of the fans stayed in there seats, as I was leaving the grandstand, I saw many, many men and women in tears. Thanks to all the Old Timers who brought their car to Raceway to help say good bye
