Josh Altman & Wife Heather Say MDLLA Season 15 is 'Roller Coaster’ as Delicate Friendships Backslide (Exclusive) - HIS Education (2024)

Buckle up because the 15th season A million dollar listing in Los Angeles it will be a “roller coaster,” according to Heather Altman.

Heather and husband Josh Altman spoke with PEOPLE about what fans can expect when the long-running Bravo series returns on July 10.

“It’s always going to be fresh because it’s real and it’s the market and what we’re dealing with, but also on the personal side,” says Josh, who leads the Altman Brothers team at Douglas Elliman with Heather and his brother Matt.

The celebrity realtor adds that some of the challenges they face in the new season include managing LA’s “mansion tax” passed in 2022, moving to Newport Beach and expanding to San Diego, Scottsdale and Las Vegas.

A sneak peek at the new season showed Josh declaring, “There’s going to be some turbulence,” and clarifying that he’s referring to the market and the actors’ personal relationships.

“Some of our relationships that were gradually getting better, better, better have now gone back in the other direction,” he says.

As for actor Josh Flagg, he notes, “It’s always a moving target as far as our friendship goes. For many years, it started out bad for a while, and then it started getting better and better.”

“I think we’re friendly now,” he adds of Flagg. “I think we were better, for sure. So it will be interesting to see how this season plays out and if our roots of our friendship will be strong enough to carry on.

Flagg also had tensions with fellow agent Tracy Tutor last season, which Josh Altman describes as “intense.”

However, he says of Tutor and Flagg, “They’re a couple that needs each other.”

“They’re like Will and Grace”, adds Heather. “He will come in Will and Grace it wasn’t that necessary and required a lot of maintenance,” he jokes. “So Tracy has a free hand with him, but they have this dysfunctional-functional relationship going for them.”

He says they’re like best friends, “but Tracy’s also like a mom to him and takes care of him. So they have an interesting dynamic that kind of works.”

In March, Flagg announced that he was leaving Douglas Elliman after just over two years to join Compass, which happened after they finished filming, according to Josh and Heather.

Before Flagg’s departure, there was a new addition to the brokerage: Nick Dubrow, who began interning with the Altmans after Josh sold Chateau Dubrow, his parents’ infamous Orange County mansion, The Real Housewives of Orange County star Heather Dubrow and her husband, a plastic surgeon and Bad star Terry Dubrow.

“So basically, if you sell a $55 million house with the Altman brothers, your kid gets a free internship,” Josh says of their 20-year-old son. “No, he did great. I think if he wants to go on after college and really do the real estate side of the business, the agent side of the business, I think he’s going to crush it.”

“I like it,” he adds. “I mean, I’m friends with him. It’s less of a boss/trainee role, and I hung out with him more than once. He’s a great kid. So he could definitely easily become a rock star real estate agent if that’s the direction he wants to go, and he’s definitely welcome back for the next internship.”

As for their own family, Heather says it’s been “crazy” juggling their work with parenting two children, Ace, 4, and Lexi, 7.

“I think the key to being successful is being able to step outside the box, outside of the crazy, pressure-filled environment that we find ourselves in non-stop, even if it’s just for a little while,” says Josh. “I try to laugh as much as possible, I try not to take things as seriously as we have to a lot of the time.”

“Look, no matter what business we’re in, no matter what situation, no matter what high-cost or high-pressure environment we’re in, we see our two kids, Ace and Lexi, and none of that is fun enough,” he smiles, “the importance of our children”, he continues. “So I think that actually helps us, our kids, the most.”

Heather says the couple made a commitment this year to spend their nights and weekends doing activities their children enjoy.

“We decided to just carve out that time in the evening with the kids to make sure we sit down and have dinner with them, taking the phone away for an hour to really take time off and spend quality time,” she says.

“We sat down and said, ‘Okay, how are we going to do this if we’re still committed to our jobs, but also our kids and us as a family and having a good time?’ So we can separate, be with them, but also when we are at work, we feel good where we are focused.”

Lexi, who recently got her ears pierced, was excited to build her earring collection, live “every little girl’s dream, go to Claire’s and make a big bill very quickly,” says Heather.

“All he wants is to beat his dad every time and just get dirty, play sports, run around,” he adds.

“He’s well-rounded,” says Heather. “He likes to beat his dad, but then mom comes out and he’s a real gentleman, [saying], ‘Mom, you look so good. Whoa, dad, have you seen mom? She looks so good.’”

Josh adds, “When he gets dressed, he says, ‘I’m going to dress like Josh Altman.’ He has these little suits, and it’s so funny to everyone in the house.”

While there is no shortage of real estate television these days, Josh is calling A million dollar listing “big cheese.”

Commenting on the show’s longevity, Heather says, “We’re real real estate agents on our show that are working, real real estate agents with real estate that they actually sell and transact. Nothing against the other shows. I enjoy watching some of them because the fashion is just fun and it’s more o sex and the city-enter the vibe, not the actual negotiations and the knowledge and experience behind the job.”

Josh, who joined MDLLA 2011, says, “When I speak, it’s really fun when people come up and say, ‘Look, I got into real estate because of you and your show.’

“But we feel, as Heather said, that we’ve paved the way for all of that. And at the end of the day, you have four superstars on the show who are well known as some of the greatest closers in the game. And I know that no other show has that.”
