Moving day is in the books at the 2024 PGA Championship and it produced a ton of birdies at a getable Valhalla Golf Club.

Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele are the co-54 hole leaders at 15-under-par. Sahith Theegala, who shot a third-round 67, is in solo third, one off the lead.

Shane Lowry, the 2019 Open champion, has the round of the day Saturday with a 62.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Scottie Scheffler has dropped off, but a crowded leaderboard still exists after Round 3 of the PGA Championship on Saturday. Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele (15-under-par) will head to Valhalla Golf Club tied for the lead and play together in the final pairing, but seven other players are within four shots of them.

Schauffele, seeking his first major championship, has led after each round of the PGA Championship, but shares it for the first time with Morikawa, who is looking for major No. 3. The former shot a 68 on Saturday and the latter a 67.

Sahith Theegala is at 14-under after all three birdied the 18th hole to end the round. Shane Lowry (who shot a PGA Championship record-tying 62), Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland are tied for fourth at 13-under.

Then there’s European Ryder Cup members Justin Rose and Robert MacIntyre at 12-under and Dean Burmester at 11-under. Six more are tied at 10-under.

Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele are your PGA Championship leaders headed into Sunday's final round, but you could argue that there are 18 players that have a realistic shot at winning this golf tournament. We knew Valhalla was primed for theatrics at the start of the week.

The course is long and it's all out there in front of you, meaning many players choose the same course management strategy to aggressively attack the soft set up. A "bunched" leaderboard was somewhat inevitable, but I don't think anyone expected it to be this good. Scheffler, the current Masters champion, is at 7-under-par heading into the final round.

Xander Schauffele birdies the par-4 17th.

He's now in a tie for the lead with Collin Morikawa at 14-under-par.

One hole to play in the third round.

Bryson DeChambeau chips in for eagle on the par-5 18th.

He shoots a third-round 67 and is at 13-under-par, one off the lead.

Collin Morikawa birdied the par-4 15th while Xander Schauffele bogeyed.

Morikawa is the solo leader at 14-under-par with Schauffele, Shane Lowry and Sahith Theegala one back.

Shane Lowry was tied for 29th entering the 3rd round this week.

That would tie the second-largest 36-hole comeback by position in men's major championship history. Only David Duval at the 2001 Open (tied for 35th) would be bigger.

Lowry gained 6.4 strokes putting in today's round, a career high. His 11.26 strokes gained putting this week are the most through 3 rounds by anyone in a PGA Tour event in 2024.

Shane Lowry is 9 under through 17 holes today.

A birdie at the par-5 18th would give him the first 61 in men's major championship history.

Jordan Spieth is currently five back after posting 8 under through three rounds.

Since winning the third leg of the grand slam at the 2017 Open, the closest Spieth has been entering the final round of a PGA Championship is seven shots back (2021).

Brooks Koepka entered the day fully in the mix at 7-under, just five back in a crowded leaderboard. Yet on a scoreable day at Valhalla while contemporaries like Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose and Shane Lowry are going low, Koepka doesn't have a single birdie and is 4-over through 10 holes.

He bogeyed the first hole, double-bogeyed No. 5 and bogeyed No. 9 to fall to 3-under for the tournament. That's 10 back of the lead. Barring an incredible back nine, it's unlikely Koepka repeats at the PGA.

Can I just say, this third round at the PGA Championship is simmering away so nicely.

The field is bunching — 27 players within five shots of the lead following that Scheffler birdie on 7 — and so many players are in the kind of form that means you wouldn't discount them from success tomorrow.

And with tomorrow still to look forward to, what a 36-hours of golf we've got in store.

Sometimes it's nice to take a breath and appreciate what's coming.

LIV's Dean Burmester has a lot riding on his PGA Championship performance. The 34-year-old received a special exemption into this year's tournament from the PGA of America, despite being ranked No. 133 in the Official World Golf Rankings (OWGR).

With his LIV membership status, Burmester cannot earn world ranking points unless he plays outside of the startup tour — LIV events do not have world ranking recognition. Burmester already went out of his way to do exactly that and won twice in his home country of South Africa at the Joburg Open and the SA Open Championship in November.

A high finish at Valhalla will significantly boost his OWGR, and if he comes in the top 15 at Valhalla this week, he'll be invited to next year's PGA Championship. The path to major championships is murky for LIV players unless they win or contend in majors. Burmester is tied for third at the PGA and stands at 10 under par for the week.

Is Saturday suddenly the day of the pre-tournament storylines reigniting?

Pretty much all the discussion this week before any arrests centered around Rory McIlroy's divorce filing and Justin Thomas playing a major in his hometown.

Neither really seemed in the mix, but McIlroy just birdied four straight and has a chance for five to get to -10, two back of the lead. And Thomas just hit the pin on 9 to birdie and get to -9 for a front nine 32.

It might not even be so big a deal if the leading groups weren't stuck in neutral. Xander Schauffele is still at par for the day. Sahith Theegala is about to lose a stroke. Scottie Scheffler is falling off a cliff and Bryson DeChambeau and Viktor Hovland aren't having great days.

Really the only guy in the final groups doing well is Collin Morikawa, who just birdied No. 5 to tie the lead.
