Story

This is Maya! Maya is a 7 year old belgian malinois - her birthday is April 6, 2017. Maya has been my best friend through the last 7 years, so this decision is a difficult one. She is a great companion to the people she knows and trusts. We have come to the decision to rehome Maya due to life event changes that she is not adjusting well to. We have an almost 2 year old son and a newborn son and Maya is not adapting to the life of toddlers and babies well. She is simply not comfortable around children - it gives her anxiety and puts her on edge - and we cannot afford an accident to take place, especially under the consideration of her being such a sweet dog otherwise. Maya does best when there are only adults in the household, she isn't great with children or other animals, and needs a fenced-in yard and adequate exercise daily.

My name is Murphy and I am a gorgeous brindle boy.  Per my DNA test I'm 37% American pitbull terrier, 12% Australian cattle dog and 7% Labrador retriever. I am a good boy, sadly I've been at the shelter for a long time :( and here is what you need to know:  I need a home with a great leader who can continue my current routines, I'm kennel trained and muzzle trained if you live in an area where i need to wear a muzzle to go for walk. I know sit, down, wait, I love walks and hikes, car rides, belly rubs under the sun, eating ice, doing zoomies on the snow, and I love people!  I have a high prey drive so no small dogs or cats for me. I like children but I think it's best that I live with older ones as I might be a little too strong for them. Story

My story will break your heart but perhaps knowing some of the details would allow me to take credit for how far I've come in my healing journey.  My future is bright with a forever family who will show me the grace, love and consistency I need for success.  While I love to play with most other dogs, there are times when too much stimulation contributes to temporary insanity.  My humans will need to read my clues and advocate for my needs.  That may mean quiet time in a kennel or supervised couch snuggles.  My walking skills are improving remarkably but there are days when I'll need shorter, more frequent walks as opposed to one long walk.
